Justus specialises in insurance, commercial contracts, and disputes. He particularly focuses on claims and disputes relating to international insurance programmes, and he advises international insurance companies and other businesses in questions concerning Finnish law. Justus has special competence concerning product liability, professional liability and insuring of contractual liability in general. He also regularly acts as counsel in cases related to property insurance, D&O insurance, environmental damage, crime insurance, aviation, and personal injuries as well as insurance regulation.
In addition to insurance and liability matters, Justus regularly advises clients in questions relating to other commercial contracts and company law. He has also experience in legal proceedings related to shareholder contracts and the redemption of shares. Moreover, Justus has represented the Finnish state, municipalities, and other public entities in several contractual disputes.
Justus has acted as the sole arbitrator and as the chair or a member of arbitral tribunals in dozens of arbitrations. The arbitrations have concerned, for instance, insurance contracts, distribution, collaboration or non-competition agreements, construction agreements, leases, and the redemption of minority shares under the Finnish Limited Liability Companies Act.
Justus published a doctoral thesis on liability insurance in 2009 and he has further published around 20 other articles that discuss insurance law, tort law and contract law.
